Candy Carrier Chaos! is the second episode of The Amazing Digital Circus.

Synopsis[]

The Digital Circus crew goes on a candy-filled adventure to capture a bandit that's stolen the Candy Canyon Kingdom's maple syrup. However, things go wrong when both the bandit and Pomni suddenly fall under the map, revealing to the bandit the truth about this world and his existence.

Plot[]

The episode begins with a scene of Pomni waking up in the middle of The Tent, when suddenly she noticed her heart is beating very fast (despite not trying to make herself nervous or scared) and her arm begins abstracting. Pomni then falls into The Cellar. As she falls, silhouetted versions of Caine, Ragatha, and Jax watch and taunt her. As the darkness envelops Pomni, the episode cuts to her waking up. She falls from her bed and glitches into a block in her room, which launches her upward. Ragatha then knocks on her door, asking how she slept. When Pomni doesn't respond, Ragatha assumes she's still asleep, but right as she is about to leave, Pomni opens the door. Ragatha happily greets her and tells her about a new fun adventure that Caine has planned for this episode.

The crew meets at the stage to listen to Caine introduce this episode's adventure, "Candy Carrier Chaos!". The Candy Canyon Kingdom has had its most valued resource, maple syrup, stolen by the gummy alligator bandits, and it's up to the Digital Circus Crew to capture the bandits and return the syrup. Zooble opts out of the adventure, even after Caine mentions he will be testing a more immersive AI within. Caine soon pushes the remaining crew into a portal leading to the Candy Canyon Kingdom.

The scene then cuts to the crew members sitting on a carriage pulled by a Gummy Elephant. Outside the kingdom, the drawbridge opens for them, and the mannequins standing behind welcome and applaud them. After the ride, they hop out of the carriage and walk closer to the main castle while complimenting how this place is so beautiful. One mannequin accidentally charges at Gangle and knocks her to the ground, letting her mask fall off and break. They tell everyone that the princess is coming. The crowd cheers again while Princess Loolilalu walks out of the castle. She welcomes the group and points up at the artistic window of Caine, saying that they're sent by God. The princess assumes they know about that situation. She informs them that those bandits have a truck that holds the maple syrup. She suggests the group chase them with another truck. Lastly, Princess Loolilalu gives Ragatha a key that can be used to access the kingdom gates and instructs her to keep it in her hands. Jax makes Gangle drive because he doesn't like the sound of the horn. Then the group leaves with the good luck the princess and the mannequin population gave them. The truck leaves the kingdom, and the drawbridge lifts up behind it.

The bandits on the other side are near a campfire. The boss or yellow bandit (Gummigoo) is looking in the distance with binoculars, while the two other bandits (Chad and Max, respectively) behind him are talking together. Gummigoo sees the truck in the distance and decides to get in their tanker and flee. Later, when both trucks are close, Jax throws Pomni out of the truck, and Pomni's arms get attached to both trucks. Pomni's arms are stretched, but before Jax can cross over to the bandits' truck, Pomni loses her grip and lands on top of the bandits' truck, much to Jax's frustration. The purple bandit sees Pomni and tries to grab her, but can't because his arms are too short. He is then hit by a shoe, shot from a bazooka by Jax, and falls off the truck. Luckily, he manages to catch a rope that was connected to the truck, and later on, he climbs back up. The boss bandit decides to shift the truck's path onto a rocky road. The main truck made it to the rocky road. Later, the crew's truck rams into the bandits' truck. The bandits' truck activates another feature, adding spikes on the side of their truck. Kinger throws an anchor with a very long rope at Pomni, but the rope flies for a long time, causing Jax to ask if the anchor was tied to anything before the rope gets pulled back and pulls the truck over to the bandits' truck. Ragatha is impaled by one of the spikes. While the bandits try to move their truck, it moves both trucks until they collide. The collision made the crew's truck fall down to a fudge river, to which Jax blames Gangle for the wreck, while the other truck along with Pomni gets glitched into the ground, until said glitched truck gets pulled up high into the sky, leaving Max and Chad on the ground while Pomni and Gummigoo clip under the map.

Gummigoo falls down under the map. He lands in a blue maze, confused, and attempts to find a way out. After a while, he discovers a giant room, which contains every NPC for this adventure. Pomni falls down as he discovers this. Gummigoo begins to question her about why her model isn't standing there and then his existence. Pomni tries to explain to him what he is without sending him spiraling.

Back at the group, fudge bubbles pop, revealing the group's truck. The Fudge emerges from the river and looks at the truck with surprise. Thinking it was food, he takes the truck and tries to eat it. Ragatha stops The Fudge from eating the group by explaining that they aren't candy. The Fudge politely apologizes and talks about its past. He explained that he had been banished by Princess Loolilalu because he kept eating the mannequins, claiming that it isn't murder if it's delicious. Jax agrees with The Fudge's opinion, much to Ragatha's annoyance. Jax then offers a deal to the fudge, saying that if he helps catch the bandits, he will let him back into the kingdom. As he somehow took the key from Ragatha, suddenly the bandit's tanker crashed into the river, to which Max claims he saw the grim reaper wink at him—all of this to Ragatha's confusion.

Back under the map, Pomni tries to pry a replica of the syrup tanker with a lollipop, only for it to break. She asks Gummigoo for help, but he doesn't respond. Gummigoo breaks down how his life is fake and that he never really had a mother. Pomni counsels him and talks him into staying in the circus with her. They both get in the tanker and glitch back onto the map by colliding with replica blocks.

Back on the map, The Fudge carries the tanker and circus crew back to the kingdom, and Jax explains his disappointment about the adventure, thinking it would have extreme violence and blood. Max and Chad, who are both tied up, explain to Ragatha that Pomni and Gummigoo just disappeared. Kinger says if they don't find Pomni in time, Caine will have to find her. Ragatha expresses her worries that Pomni is having another horrible experience like the last adventure and that she doesn't like her. Kinger says it's a lot for everyone to go through, like when Ragatha first joined the circus.

The replica tanker with Pomni and Gummigoo shoots out of the ground and lands right into The Fudge, flattening him. Pomni and Gummigoo end up vomiting after the impact. A concerned Ragatha goes up to Pomni, asking if she's alright, to which she says yes and that she and Gummigoo are friends. Gummigoo hugs Max and Chad, happy to see them again. Jax expresses all of his disappointment again about the adventure, and Ragatha informs him that there might be violence and blood in the next adventure. The rest of the crew sees an another tanker, which also is full of maple syrup. Gummigoo asks the crew if his bandits can take that tanker back to their village. Ragatha agrees that it's no problem if there are two of them.

The crew returns the tanker to the kingdom, Princess Loolilalu thanks them for returning the syrup, and she opens the portal back to the circus, where she thinks Gummigoo will be executed. A large explosion is heard, and Jax realizes he didn't leave the gate unlocked for nothing, letting The Fudge back into the kingdom. To Ragatha's concern and confusion because she thought he was dead, Princess Loolilalu asks Jax what he did, but only for the crew to enter the portal back into the circus as The Fudge is heard attacking the mannequins.

Caine welcomes the crew back; he notices Gummigoo and immediately deletes him, much to Pomni's confusion and dismay. Caine claims that if he loses track of who's human and NPC, something bad could happen. Once again, she begins to softly, but crazily laugh as Caine goes away to drink water. Zooble appears again and is relieved to see Caine going away, and Ragatha asks Pomni if she'd like to attend Kaufmo's funeral, as it's the least she can do to honor his memory. The entire group (excluding Jax), is shown later at his funeral, each telling about how much Kaufmo was to them (dialogue was inaudible), and Pomni begins to see that she has friends to take care of her, and she feels a little more relaxed about the circus.

Trivia[]

  • The adventure is seen to take place a day after the pilot.
  • Pomni’s nightmare sequence might be inspired of Woody’s nightmare sequence in Toy Story 2, which even have clear similarities when Pomni seeing Ragatha, Jax, and Caine satisfied sees her abstracted and falling, is similar to when Woody saw Andy says “Bye Woody”.
  • The episode was made public for premiere roughly 46 hours before its release time. This is more time in advance than Glitch tends to post Murder Drones episodes.
  • The episode was uploaded to YouTube on April 14 (UTC) before being made public, meaning that production had already finished at that point.
  • Near the end, when Pomni's dream continues, her hand is grabbed at the last second before she falls in The Cellar. If one looks closely, they can see the hands are of each of the other humans except for Jax.
  • Zooble was the only character who did not go on this adventure.
    • It was revealed later that it was to prepare for Kaufmo's funeral.
  • Jax references Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; by saying "We're one tanker away from being Augustus Glooped!". A reference to when Augustus Gloop fell into the chocolate river.
  • This episode reached 27 million views in 24 hours, while also reaching 1 million in its first hour alone.
  • This episode's sticker pack has the humans depicted as candy-people. Ragatha's hair is depicted as being made of licorice, which is in reference to when Jax threatens to convince The Fudge to eat her hair.

Errors[]

  • At 01:11 in the episode, as Pomni falls into the Cellar in her nightmare, her arm does not show signs of abstraction.
  • The doorknob on Pomni's door is on the left side of the door in this episode, while in the Pilot it was on the right side.
  • When Gummigoo tells his boys to leave after he saw the Circus Gang's truck in the distance, Chad runs up to the campfire and stomps on it, but the fire stays intact.
  • When Max falls off the truck, the spikes on the truck's sides are visible. However, the spikes are only actually deployed by Gummigoo after Gangle rams the truck, about 1:30 later in the episode.
  • At 07:12, right after Gummigoo changes the truck's gear into "Rocky Road" mode, Pomni is missing from the top of the truck. She reappears in the next shot, but disappears again at 07:19 when Jax is looking at the bandit truck move away.
  • When Pomni is clinging to the roof of the spinning bad guy truck, right before it clips through the ground, her hand can be seen clipping through the truck.
  • Despite Ragatha getting a spike through her chest with a visible hole being left behind, there is no sign of said hole later on once the gang have landed in the fudge's lake.
  • While The Fudge states his name and talks about his banishment from the Candy Canyon Kingdom, the Circus characters on the truck aren't animated at all, which is inconsistent with the previous shots that use the same camera angle.
  • When Ragatha dress is torn, one of Ragatha hair and dress clips through the spike.
