Overview
"Caine! Kaufmo went through a sort of Kaufmosis and abstracted!"
Kinger to Caine, "PILOT"

Kaufmo is an abstracted antagonist from Glitch Productions' indie animated web series The Amazing Digital Circus, and a former resident of The Amazing Digital Circus. He debuted in the pilot episode, where it was revealed that he had abstracted sometime before Pomni arrived. After abstracting, he is taken into The Cellar and is effectively considered deceased while he is trapped in The Cellar.

Appearance[]

Kaufmo was a noseless clown with white skin and black button eyes. He wore a plain yellow clown suit with a blue collar and red pom-pom buttons, with a matching party hat and white gloves. He had small triangular markings around his eyes and thick red lips.

In his abstracted form, he is a black, rapidly glitching monster with four short, stubby legs and a long neck without a defined head, somewhat resembling of that to an Alpaca or a horse. His entire body is covered with various colorful eyes.

Personality[]

Not much is known about Kaufmo's personality. According to the other characters, he liked to tell jokes, and became upset when the others didn't find them funny. In his reveal however, Glitch Productions refers to him as "everyone's favorite jokester".[1]

In the pilot, it's revealed by Kinger that Kaufmo had been unstable as of late, unable to talk or think about anything other than an exit from the Circus. His instability reaches its peak shortly before Ragatha, Jax, and the newly arrived Pomni open the door to his room.

Biography[]

"PILOT" (Episode 1)[]

During the theme song to the show, Kaufmo's usual spot is filled in with a cardboard cut-out, as he's been refusing to leave his room.

Pomni, Jax, and Ragatha eventually go to check up on him, concerned about his lack of appearance and wanting Pomni to meet him. It's soon revealed that Kaufmo has abstracted in his room, having gone completely insane thinking about the exit. In his abstracted form, he goes on a rampage, violently attacking Ragatha and chasing Pomni through the Circus. After losing track of Pomni, he starts to notice the Gloinks running around the Circus and starts to pursue them instead. He successfully attacks several Gloinks, a red monkey from a monkey barrel, and eventually the Gloink Queen.

After Kinger is able to inform Caine that Kaufmo has abstracted, he proceeds to put him in The Cellar with the other abstracted characters.

"Candy Carrier Chaos!" (Episode 2)[]

After leaving the Candy Canyon Kingdom, Ragatha holds a funeral for Kaufmo with all the other humans, except for Jax. Jax is subtly seen frowning when Ragatha discusses the funerals, before storming off with an agitated expression.

Trivia[]

  • Kaufmo's design was revealed a mere 48 hours before the pilot's release. Notably, he didn't show up during the "MEET THE GANG" promo video, even though he was a member of the cast before Pomni entered. This is likely because he had abstracted, so he was physically and mentally unable to show up for promotional material.
    • Gooseworx joked that Jack Black voiced Kaufmo for zero lines.[2]
    • WizardWiz tweeted that they were the voice actor for Kaufmo, though the character has no dialogue.[3]
      • Gooseworx has confirmed this, and has also mentioned that WizardWiz's improvised lines were discarded for being considered too offensive.[4]
  • Kaufmo makes a small cameo in the teaser of the pilot, where his abstracted leg pokes out from his door when Caine struggles to switch backgrounds.
  • As stated by Gooseworx on "GLITCHX 2023", Kaufmo was originally going to be part of the main cast, but he was removed after Jax was developed as she thought that it would've been too many characters.[5]
    • In the same AMA, Gooseworx stated that in the original plan, Kaufmo "was the same as Ragatha, in a sense, [in] that he was always friendly and happy and always goofing around." Kovach completed her answer, saying that he was a "very cheery, optimistic, toxic positivity kind of clown character."
  • If Kaufmo hadn't been abstracted, Pomni possibly would have been good friends with him, though annoyed by his jokes.[6]
