The Fudge is a character who was teased in POMNI WAKE UP TIME TO GO ON AN ADVENTURE. He is voiced by Lyle Rath, and made his debut as a major character in Episode 2, Candy Carrier Chaos!. He resides in a river of chocolate in the Candy Canyon Kingdom.
Appearance[]
The Fudge is an enormous blob monster made out of chocolate fudge sauce. His teeth are made of candy corn, and he has jawbreakers for eyes with yellow and pink swirls that sit atop his head. His cavernous mouth takes up almost his entire body, and he will occasionally sprout one or two pseudopod-like limbs to manipulate things. Being a blob, the Fudge's goopy form constantly shifts in size and shape as he speaks to reflect his emotions, and speaks with a deep, gurgling voice.
Personality[]
Given his limited screen presence in the episode, not much is known about The Fudge other than he is extremely gluttonous and simple-minded, caring about little more than his love of eating candy, regardless if it's sentient or not. He shows no remorse for eating many of the civilians of the Candy Canyon Kingdom, asking "is it really murder if it's delicious?" and admitting that the things he did in his free time were utterly sickening. Despite this, when he realized that Ragatha and the other humans weren't made of candy, he apologized and spared them from being eaten, despite his disappointment. The Fudge seems to harbor a bitterness towards the princess for his exile from the kingdom.
Biography[]
The Fudge was a former moat guard of the Candy Canyon Kingdom. However, his hunger for candy made him consume many of the candy citizens, causing Princess Loolilalu to banish him in retaliation.
When the humans pursued the crocodile bandits in a high-speed chase, Pomni and Gummigoo fell outside of the map while everyone else landed in a river of chocolate at the bottom of the chasm. Jax was able to bargain to unlock the gates of the Candy Canyon Kingdom (with the key gifted to them by the Princess) in exchange for The Fudge assisting in the capture of the gators (with Max and Chad falling right next to them shortly afterward).
While The Fudge was bringing the humans, Max, and Chad back to the Kingdom, Pomni and Gummigoo escaped from Outside of the Map using a copy of the bandit's truck, which landed on The Fudge's head and knocked him out.
When the humans finally finished their mission, they were presented by the Princess with a portal back to the Digital Circus. However, as they start to walk towards the portal, The Fudge discovers that Jax has committed to his promise of keeping the gate unlocked and begins rampaging again. Jax and the other humans hastily walk into the portal as chaos and panic erupt in the Kingdom.
Trivia[]
- He is the second giant monster NPC to be featured in the series, after the Gloink Queen in episode 1.
- As Kinger pointed out, Pomni has yet to directly encounter or meet either of them.
- In the Indonesian dub, he is voiced by Muhammad Nur, who also voices Caine in the aforementioned dub.
- His appearance and personality are likely references to "The Greedy" from Raggedy Ann & Andy: A Musical Adventure, as they are both large, fudge-like beings who enjoy eating candy, even the animation of his movement inspired by his movement that were entirely animated by Emery Hawkins. Furthermore, his eye movement also references to Tick-Tock Crocodile, a character from Disney movie, Peter Pan. These inspiration have been stated by Kevin Temmer in this short. He could also possible be based off The Great Mighty Poo from Conker's Bad Fur Day.
- The camera zooms into The Fudge's eyes as he remembers consuming the citizens. This was supposed to be a more direct reference to the Camel with the Wrinkled Kness, who (in the Raggedy Ann film) also has his eyes occasionally get zoned-out as Camel suffers from hallucinations.
