The Mystery Of Mildenhall Manor is the third episode of The Amazing Digital Circus.
Synopsis[]
The gang are back together to go on their next SPOOKY adventure. Kinger gets a shotgun! Zooble goes to therapy! Pomni goes to hell! So much fun awaits!!!!!
Plot[]
The episode opens with the characters surrounding Pomni, who's attempting to hold her breath, but being unsuccessful. Jax reminds her they can't die from asphyxiation, despite it feeling the same, as he wants to see what Pomni does when she holds it for long enough. Ragatha and Kinger try to give positive encouragement as Pomni reattempts. She ends up having her face change colours in a speed increasing hue shift. Jax explains different things happen to everyone who holds their breath for long periods - Kinger glows, Ragatha's hair sticks up, Gangle's mask spins, and Zooble "turns straight", Zooble tries to correct him, saying their limbs simply straighten, before flipping him off. Jax refuses to show what happens to him, as he asks "the viewers" what they think it is - while looking at nothing, annoying Zooble.
Caine flies into the gang's time, wondering why they aren't getting ready for the day's adventure. He reveals The Mystery of Mildenhall Manor - a mansion filled with paranormal activity, where the cast has to solve mysteries and capture ghosts. Before announcing more, Caine notices Zooble is once again absent from the cast, panicking as he made the adventure "really cool and mature" for them. Though they are still no where to be found, causing Caine to freeze in place, and Bubble to speak backwards while flying from the bottom of the screen to the top. Pomni questions if the NPCs will become self-aware again because she knew what happened last time, to which Caine is unsure, despite being the boss. He then opens the portal to the adventure.
The five venture into the mansion, with Ragatha wondering how scary it will be. Pomni just hopes it won't be a terrible nightmare, as she hates horror and jumpscares. After saying this, Jax jumpscares her by saying "boo", laughing at how timid it was. Ragatha shuts him down over, telling him about the rough times she's had. Jax comments everyone's had rough times. Gangle and the rest hear odd laughter coming from the doors as a ghostly silhouette enters, laughing at them. Pomni's eyes launch out of her sockets in fear, as the now cute ghost, Ghostly, introduces himself as their guide for the day. Pomni's eyes cartoonishly bug out and fall to the ground, though still attached to her eye-sockets. She picks them up, questioning why they won't go back in. Kinger reminisces on his first "wild take", though also doesn't know why the eyes won't retract.
Ghostly advises the group to choose which door to go through: the "normal door" - which is labeled as rated WOW for all ages. Otherwise, they can go through the "scary door" - which is labeled as rated AAAAA for "mature Zoobles" only. Before Ghostly can further speak, Jax sucks him into a vacuum. He comments that he thought they were supposed to capture all the ghosts when Ragatha shouts at him for it. Gangle asks him which door they should choose as Kinger continues to try and help Pomni, to which Jax grabs Gangle's comedy mask off her face and throws it into the scary door, which turns into a giant, monstrous mouth and swallows it, upsetting Gangle. Kinger rushes into the nearly opened passageway to retrieve it, not noticing he's still holding onto Pomni's eye, dragging her down with him. The remaining three look on mostly in horror, as Jax is happy he found which door was the scary one.
Meanwhile, Caine is flying around the circus tent, calling out for Zooble, wanting to talk to them. He remembers he can snap Zooble to him, which he ends up doing, Zooble questioning if he could have done that the entire time. Caine wants to figure out why they keep skipping his adventures, claiming they could hurt Bubble's feelings. When Zooble asks about this, Caine asks about their feelings and snaps in a therapy room, Caine acting as the therapist. Zooble is reluctant to do this, but Caine insists. Zooble reveals they have already told Caine the reason they don't go on adventures, but he never remembers. Caine claims he wouldn't forget, asking what he can do to fix his adventures. Zooble tells him adventures are all he thinks about, which is nothing to do with the problem. They realize Caine isn't even listening, instead opting to show Zooble a cool bee he drew.
Kinger and Pomni emerge from the "scary door" into a new room, finding a room with creepy heads of all the circus members, and a weird 7th character. Kinger finds a tape player, which plays audio from Baron Mildenhall, who specialized in hunting, which went from a hobby to an obsession. The 7th head is a creature he had been hunting for years, which isn't a man nor an animal. Baron wanted to protect his family and kill the creature, wanting to be freed from an awful feeling. He says he wasn't freed, before the tape stops, to which Kinger comments he's "starting to think". Pomni suggests they try to find the other three again, though being unsuccessful on their first door having a brick wall behind it. Kinger finds a dumbwaiter they could possibly ride up, though it's locked, making Pomni go slightly crazy.
The next room they find has missing posters, photos and tapes. Kinger finds another tape player to play, scaring Pomni. On Tuesday December 4th, Baron had shot the creature multiple times in its weak spots and decapitated it, keeping its head on his wall. Even in his apparent victory, the problems had only started. He took his eyes off the body for a minute, and the body disappeared - as the creature was not dead and would return to claim what was taken. He advises anyone listening to not let the head out of their sight. Kinger looks back to see that the head is indeed gone, calling it some inconvenient lore placement. Pomni finds the key to their possible exit, just before the lights go off, Kinger calling it inconvenient darkness, scaring Pomni by grabbing her and poking her eyes. He screams at a funny then unfunny joke, then suggests the two of them should hold onto each other and go back to the trophy room, which Pomni agrees to. As they make it back in, they hear creaking noises. Kinger advises they should be quiet not to attract anything, to which Pomni agrees to again, commenting on his tendency to be "hit and miss". The silence goes on until a fly comes in and Kinger attempts swatting it. When he manages to kill it, a head monster appears behind the two and screams at them. Kinger asks the monster to "speak up" before Pomni yells at him to run for the dumbwaiter. She desperately tries to unlock the doors with the key. Kinger recognizes the creature as the one from the tapes, as it opens its mouth widely in Kinger's face. He enters a dazed state and comments how beautiful "honey" looks. Pomni unlocks the door and manages to drag Kinger out of his state and into the dumbwaiter. Though it doesn't go up as they expected, and instead slowly goes down.
Back in the therapy room, Caine yells at Zooble that he does not use his adventures to torture his guests, any torment is an accident like "a good war criminal". Zooble yells back that they weren't talking about that, they couldn't care less for the adventures. Caine asks what their problem is then, not being able to remember. Zooble sighs, and proceeds to confess that to them, they're the problem, as they don't like themselves, their body and their removable joints, not being able to find anything that feels fitting. Caine happily states the reason he couldn't remember is because the problem is "already solved" with the Zooble Box - letting Zooble swap out their body part at will. However, Zooble voices that they've been unsuccessful in finding any parts they like since they arrived. Cain ignores this altogether, and pivots back to the adventure topic. A frustrated Zooble tells Caine no one likes his adventures. It's just that everyone goes on them for other reasons. Ragatha doesn't like saying no, Jax likes to with everyone, Gangle's too shy to refuse, Kinger's insane, and Pomni looks too traumatized to speak after everyone. Caine questions how he could be bad at doing the one thing he's designed to do - the one thing he's supposed to good at. He begins to silently break down, making the therapy room glitch as he loses it. Zooble asks whose therapy session this is in a panic. This snaps Caine back to his old self, and he goes right back to finding the root Zooble's "behavioral" issues, calming the room down, but still annoying Zooble greatly.
Pomni and Kinger crash into another dark room - some kind of cellar with a corpse holding a gun. The next tape player reveals how bad things had become. Baron got so paranoid he wasn't the protector his family needed, instead becoming scared at everything. He ended up shooting his wife, as he mistook her for the creature, he finds this ironic, now becoming the monster. He waited in his cellar, having nothing to protect, but wanting to slay the beast that took his sanity and his wife. Kinger suggests they take the deceased Baron's gun, Pomni agrees as she runs over to the body. She begs it not to come to life. Humorously, it agrees to stay dead, as Pomni takes it, weirded out. Kinger realizes the gun has two shots, wanting to make them count. The body of the monster then crawls up into the room in front of the two, as the head comes behind them, making Kinger use both his shots to eliminate both. When Kinger comments the ordeal wasn't so bad, the tape from Mildenhall says it's what he would be saying if he didn't know the creature was one of God's angels. Anyone who brings harm to them will be brought to hell. The bodies emerge, as Mildenhall apologizes, needing a host to escape the hall of the damned. Kinger questions how this was recorded if he was in hell, before arms grab the two and drag them down into hell. The tape player comments their next breaths in hell will be their last, forfeiting their bodies. Pomni curses out the adventure before the two are fully submerged into the ground.
Meanwhile, Ragatha and Gangle are sitting with a ghostly woman, Martha Mildenhall, drinking tea. Ragatha apologizes to the woman about her husband killing her. She dismisses it, knowing how men are with having silly priorities. Ragatha agrees with this, looking at a tied up Jax. Martha hopes that the three's friends won't get bored of his endless monologues if they do run into him, as he could turn a less than a minute story into a tragedy. Ragatha makes sure to ask them, after thanking Martha for the tea again, the ghost saying they can come back anytime. The three have managed to complete the "PACIFIST ROUTE", but they have to wait for Kinger and Pomni before they can go. Gangle wonders how long they'll be waiting.
Kinger and Pomni sit in a not-so-typical rendition of hell, which Kinger comments on. Pomni is still freaked out that they are literally in hell. She starts to panic and yells to herself, Kinger reassures her that Caine should have included an exit, calming her slightly. The two look around, finding a foggy corridor. Kinger stops Pomni from walking through while he sees tiny ghost silhouettes occupying the fog. He suggests he tries something, which is to take his left eye off and throw it into the corridor, finding stairs at the other side of it. He still worries about walking through it, while Pomni just runs for it. Pomni soon gets possessed, having her body morph and her eyes glow orange. Kinger grabs her and hits her with the butt of the gun to scare the spirits out. The possessed jester asks Kinger how his wife is before Pomni gasps for air and breaks down. Kinger assumes the souls just want a vessel to leave with, and sighs that seven years of computer science lead to this. Pomni concludes that Caine just wants her to suffer, claiming she really is in hell. Kinger suggests they relax while nothing is chasing them. Pomni continues crying as the chess piece apologizes for leading them down this path, prompting her to ask him why he's been acting so differently.
Kinger realizes he has, not really being good with memories, but that darkness brings him back to the time where his wife, Queenie, had just abstracted. He doesn't remember everything that happened but it lead the two to the pillow fort. The fort was dark, but it calmed the abstracted being down, smoothing out her edges and removing her aggressiveness, and allowing Kinger to comfort her one last time before Caine took her to the cellar. When questioned, he describes her as funny, creative, into entomology, being the reason Kinger now loves bugs. Despite it not being the most cheerful memory, Kinger has control over it. He tells Pomni that the circus can feel pointless, but that if you have people that care about you, it's not, and that you should hold onto good people and memories, as they can do a lot. And they can be gone at any time. The worst thing he thinks you can do is make someone think they're not wanted or loved. Pomni smiles and tells Kinger she's glad he's here. They sit in silence for a few seconds, until Kinger recalls the last tape, thinking they can get through if they don't breathe, not thinking about it being able to get past Pomni's inability to hold her breath very well. Pomni realizes that when they leave, he'll go back to being crazy, and won't remember anything, Kinger reassures her that as long as she remembers, it will be fine, telling her she's very strong. The two hold hands as he keeps motivating her, and they inhale, entering the corridor. Pomni looks around, and has her face change colours again, while Kinger glows, just as Jax said.
The two make it back to the rest of the group, Ragatha asking if they're okay. Pomni says they're fine, before the two get startled at the tied up Jax, though Ragatha tells them not to worry. Kinger tells everyone how brave Pomni was, before second guessing himself, going back to insanity. The jester takes the chance to thank Ragatha for being concerned about her. Ragatha also thanks her for the praise, just wanting to make sure she's alright. Gangle asks the two if they remembered her comedy mask, to which the two forgot - and Kinger loudly swears with a censor.
In the circus tent, Caine has somehow become the patient, with Zooble being the therapist, and Bubble wearing Caine's hat. Caine questions if the Wild West theme for an adventure was a direction. He then snaps back to his normal self, realizing everyone made it back, telling Zooble to pretend they weren't doing therapy. Zooble is confused as they just throw the notebook away. The five walk in as Caine welcomes them back as meowing milkmaids, confusing everyone, and disgusting Jax greatly, who says to never call them that again. Pomni watches Kinger re-enter his pillow fort while the others walk off in their own directions, as Jax asks her what it was like being stuck with "the nutcase". She surprises him by saying it wasn't that bad as she lightly smiles. Jax looks confused, before rolling his eyes and walking off.

Trivia[]
- This is the first episode for many things:
- This is the first episode where Kinger swears.
- This is the first episode to show visible blood (briefly).
- This is the first episode to premiere on Netflix and YouTube on the same day.
- This is the first episode where someone doesn't vomit.
- This is the first episode where Jax does not have any keys.
- This is the only episode that had 2D scenes (when the lights went out), discounting the credits.
- This is the first and currently only episode to be rated TV-14 in the United States, due to briefly blood, the Angel, Kinger with a gun and Pomni and Kinger going to hell.
- This episode reveals a couple important things about Kinger:
- He's broken, rather than insane.
- His pillow fort is not used as a form of protection, but as a dark place where he can act more normal and remember things easier.
- Kinger being more normal and remembering things in the dark references to Candy Carrier Chaos!, when he remembers when Ragatha first joined the circus, when he had the metal bucket on his head. But he immediately forgot it when he took the bucket off his head. Similar, to him immediately forgetting the whole adventure he had with Pomni after going out of the exit door.
- It also explains why he closed his eyes during Kaufmo's eulogy.
- The eyes that come visible from the Angel's widely opened mouth resembled Kinger's abstracted wife, leading to Kinger mistaking it for the actual Queenie as evident by the fact he said "you look beautiful, honey" in a dazed state.
- The teacup Martha Mildenhall, Ragatha, and Gangle were drinking from is the same teacup from episode 5 of Murder Drones.
- There are some references only existing in other dubs:
- In the Polish dub, Caine refers to the returning crew as "skibidi sigmas" instead of directly translating the "meowing milkmaids" line.
- Alex Rochon and Michael Kovach thought it was funny, so they decided to make a English version of the line, with Jax's part being to tell Caine to "don’t ever quote brainrot again".
- They also made an English version of another dub line. Where Caine refers the returning crew as "milky furries", though Jax's line remains the same as it does in the original (English) version.
- Alex Rochon and Michael Kovach thought it was funny, so they decided to make a English version of the line, with Jax's part being to tell Caine to "don’t ever quote brainrot again".
- In the German dub:
- The later part of "This spooky mansion has been rumored to be filled with the brim with paranormal activity!" is translated as "sollen geradezu reich an Geistern, Geistern und Weißbrot sein!". This is a reference to a line from the German dub of the SpongeBob episode Pranks a Lot, where "Toast" was directly translated to "Weißbrot" breaking the rhyme.
- Jax compares Gangle's mask spinning while holding her breath to a Beyblade.
- When Jax asks Pomni if she is scared of a vacuum cleaner, he instead asks her if she is scared of a "Schreckweg", the German name for the Poltergust from the Luigi's Mansion franchise.
- In the Polish dub, Caine refers to the returning crew as "skibidi sigmas" instead of directly translating the "meowing milkmaids" line.
- Jax capturing Ghostly with a vacuum cleaner is a reference to Luigi's Mansion.
- The outro music is slightly different from the first two episodes.
- When Jax first explains Kinger's ability to glow while holding his breath, if one looks very carefully at the background, there is a blue mannequin NPC eavesdropping on the group.
Errors[]
- During the scene where Ragatha and Gangle are drinking tea with Martha Mildenhall when Ragatha stands up, her dress isn't aligned with her waist.
- When Gangle wonders how long they'll be waiting till the others will be back, the tears on her mask are gone.
- When Kinger stands up after being pushed by a possessed Pomni, his eye reappears.
